Hello! My name is Carly McCormick, and I am an award-winning designer and illustrator based in Columbia, South Carolina. I am currently a senior at the University of South Carolina, pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. My passion lies in visual storytelling, playful design, and nostalgic aesthetics. Before transferring to USC in 2022, I earned my Associate’s Degree in Arts and Humanities at Horry Georgetown Technical College.
Originally from Milford, NJ, I moved to South Carolina as a teenager, and I've been deeply influenced by the coastal charm of Murrells Inlet, as well as the rich visual language of history, film photography, and vintage design. I like to think of myself as a design chameleon, adapting my style to meet the needs of each project while continually experimenting with new techniques and mediums. Whether I'm crafting bold branding for small businesses, designing vibrant illustrations, or creating fun, funky patterns, I thrive in the space between creativity and problem-solving.
My work is an extension of what makes me happy: bright colors, playful compositions, and designs that evoke nostalgia and joy. With a deep love for storytelling, I aspire to work with companies that bring creative ideas to life, whether through branding, illustration, historic preservation, or retail design. I’m also passionate about collaborating with small businesses to help them stand out. Looking ahead, my goal is simple: to create work that makes people smile, sparks curiosity, and brings a sense of wonder to the everyday.
